AUSTRALIA - Victoria police are looking for clues to the shocking deaths of two young boys in a small town near Shepparton.
The bodies of the boys, aged 7 and 9, were found last night in their bedroom in the town of Mooroopna.
A 29-year-old woman, understood to be the boys' mother, and a man believed to be the father, have been questioned at the local police headquarters.
No charges have yet been laid and post-mortems are being conducted today.
Acting Inspector Peter Gunn said students, parents and staff at Mooroopna Primary School, where the two boys went to school, were in "total disbelief".
Mr Gunn said counselling had been offered to students, parents and staff at Mooroopna Primary School, all of who were asking why the tragedy occurred.
"For obvious reasons there's total disbelief," Mr Gunn said.
About 6,000 people live in Mooroopna, near Shepparton, in the fruit picking region around the Goulburn River and about 325 students attend the primary school.
"It's a massive tragedy for the family ... and it goes on to the extended family, the friends of the family, the school community and the township," Mr Gunn said.
