The BBC has been accused of turning a blind eye to years of inappropriate and sexist behaviour by Dave Lee Travis, who yesterday became the latest celebrity convicted under Operation Yewtree.
The 69-year-old former Radio One Breakfast Show and Top of the Pops host, who worked for the corporation for more than 30 years, was convicted of an indecent assault against a young television researcher in 1995.
Travis was found guilty of groping the 22-year-old's breasts as he prepared to appear on The Mrs Merton Show. But while he was previously cleared of a string of similar attacks on BBC premises, the corporation has been accused of failing to act on rumours of his "predatory" behaviour.
Such criticisms will only add to claims that the BBC was blind to abuse by some of its biggest names, after it transpired that Jimmy Savile had carried out scores of attacks on children on its premises.
Travis's victim reported the attack at the time to a BBC producer, but the complaint was never pursued.
