Internet giant Yahoo plans to take on arch-rival Google with a controversial online library of tens of thousands of classic books.
Yahoo has teamed up with a range of Archives in Britain and North America to put together its own plan.
It stressed the web library would focus on "open access to content while respecting copyright holders".
The scheme comes after Google cancelled similar plans in December due to copyright issues.
