Mehmet Ali Agca, the man who shot Pope John Paul II in 1981, was released from a Turkish jail last night and will now have to do his compulsory military service.
Agca, 48, served 19 years in an Italian prison before being extradited to Turkey in 2000 to serve a separate sentence for robbery and murder.
