Howard says Indonesian terrorist threat serious
CANBERRA - Australian Prime Minister John Howard said the terrorist threat in Indonesia was serious after Australians were on Sunday warned to stay away from the country.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) reissued its travel advisory for Indonesia, saying terrorists were actively planning attacks which could take place at any time.

Nigerian kidnappers free 3-year-old girl
ABUJA - Nigerian kidnappers released a 3-year-old British girl they had seized in the southern city of Port Harcourt, authorities said.
Unknown gunmen had snatched Margaret Hill from the car in which she was being driven to school while it was stuck in traffic on Thursday morning.

Pakistan troops blast escape holes in mosque
A rebel cleric said he and his fighters hoped their deaths would spark an Islamic revolution in Pakistan as troops blasted holes in the walls of the Red Mosque in a bid to allow women and children to escape the stand-off in Islamabad.
Officials said that as the troops launched the operation some of the armed students inside the mosque - possibly numbering more than 100 in total - triggered a gun battle.
