N Ireland peace process nears milestone
BELFAST - More than a decade of a long and tortuous Northern Ireland peace process is due to reach a triumphant in Belfast today when unionists and republicans form a new powersharing government.
Ian Paisley and Martin McGuinness are to take office as First Minister and Deputy First Minister.
The breakthrough came last month with an election which consolidated the domination of the two parties and meant that only they could head a new government.

Queen gives Bush 'mother's look' after gaffe
WASHINGTON - He has done it again. George W. Bush welcomed The Queen yesterday to the White House with yet another Presidential verbal stumble.
"After all you've dined with 10 US Presidents. You've helped our nation celebrate its bicentennial in 17 - in 1976," he said.
It was impossible to say whether she was amused or not.
Mr Bush however rescued himself with deft self-deprecation: "She gave me a look only a mother could give a child," he said to much laughter.

Cameroon recovers plane crash bodies
MBANGA PONGO, Cameroon - Rescue workers in Cameroon pulled remains of victims from a fetid swamp overnight, two days after a Kenya Airways plane crashed, killing all 114 people on board.
The Boeing 737-800 fell into densely forested swampland only minutes after leaving Douala for Nairobi in torrential rain.
Rescuers said they had found one of two "black box" recorders which may shed light on the cause of the crash.
