N Ireland enters power-sharing era
BELFAST - Northern Ireland's Protestant and Roman Catholic leaders have launched a new power-sharing government, aiming to put a final end to violence.
Paisley and Sinn Fein's Martin McGuinness, his former enemy and now deputy first minister, took a pledge of office at a surprisingly light-hearted ceremony.
The government will have authority over day-to-day issues but London will hold sovereignty and the purse strings.

Six held in plot to attack US army base
CAMDEN, New Jersey - Six suspected Islamic radicals have been arrested on charges of plotting an attack on New Jersey's Fort Dix army base "to attack and kill at least one hundred soldiers by using rocket propelled grenades or other weapons".
Fort Dix is used to train reservists from all branches of the military, many of whom are preparing for Iraq and Afghanistan.
They are to appear on terrorism charges in US District Court in Camden, New Jersey, later on Tuesday local time.

Portugal police look into paedophile kidnap clues
LISBON - Police are investigating whether a paedophile ring ordered the kidnap of three-year-old Madeleine McCann.
British police have supplied their Portuguese counterparts with information regarding British paedophile rings with connections to the Algarve.
The McCanns have made four televised appeals since her disappearance, calling on whoever may have taken her to return their daughter unharmed.
