Litvinenko suspect blames M16 for death
MOSCOW - Andrei Lugovoy, charged by Britain with murdering former Russian agent Alexander Litvinenko, said he suspected MI6, the mafia and Boris Berezovsky, a multi-millionaire Kremlin critic who fled Russia for London, could have been involved in the spy's murder.
Russia's Federal Security Service said in a statement it would investigate Lugovoy's statements.
"This is a criminal matter and is not an issue about intelligence," a British Foreign Office spokesman said.

UK embassy warns of possible further kidnappings in Iraq
The British embassy in Baghdad issued today a travel advisory warning British nationals, including security contractors, that "further kidnaps may be planned".
A special military unit has been set up to help hunt for the Britons and Iraqi police believes the five abducted Britons are still in Baghdad.

Bush wants global meeting on climate change
WASHINGTON - US President George W. Bush, under fire for resisting tough action on global warming, today called on 15 influential countries to agree by the end of 2008 on a long-term goal to cut emissions.
Critics dismissed the strategy as a diversion and a delaying tactic but some European leaders and a UN official expressed hope that it might be a first step to more action.
It was the strongest statement yet from the United States about curbing climate-warming emissions after the international first phase of the Kyoto Protocol ends in 2012.
