Three die as weather causes havoc in Britain
LONDON - Three people have been killed and hundreds forced to evacuate their homes as torrential rainstorms sweep Britain.
A man in his 20s died after becoming trapped while helping his grandfather clear a flooded drain in Hull.
Severe flood alerts were issued on 15 rivers, mainly in the north and east of England while experts warned that more than 200 others posed a potential risk.

Israel to free prisoners as goodwill to Abbas
SHARM EL-SHEIKH, Egypt - Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has said he is ready to free about 250 Palestinian prisoners as a goodwill gesture to help President Mahmoud Abbas and his Fatah faction.
The two leaders held talks in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh today, their first meeting since Islamist Hamas militants seized the Gaza Strip nearly two weeks ago.

Iraq bomber kills six tribal leaders
BAGHDAD - A suicide bomber killed six Iraqi tribal leaders opposed to al Qaeda when he blew himself up at a busy Baghdad hotel.
The US military and Iraqi police said six tribal sheikhs were among the dead.
Al-Iraqiya state television said one of its television show hosts was also killed.
