Workman killed by falling fridge

An American worker has been killed after a fridge thrown from a building landed on him, police say.

The 33-year-old man was part of a crew working on the renovation of an apartment near downtown Milwaukee when two of his colleagues threw a refrigerator from one of the building's balconies.

A police spokeswoman told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel newspaper the two men yelled down a warning before they hurled the fridge down four floors, but received no response.

"It appears right now just to be a tragic accident," the spokeswoman said.
