A Japanese woman was arrested after driving home after a traffic accident with the body of an 80-year-old pedestrian stuck through her car's windscreen.
AFP reports that 23-year-old Michiko Sato was arrested after her boyfriend called authorities to report the accident.
When police arrived at the catering student's home they found the elderly woman's corpse wedged in the broken windscreen.
She drove seven kilometres to her home north of Tokyo after the accident.
"The suspect said she was so shocked that she didn't know what to do," a police told AFP, adding that she had not been drinking at the time of the accident.
She faces up to 17 years in jail on charges of causing an accident resulting in death and fleeing the crash scene.
