A woman has died in a high-speed luge crash in Brisbane's western suburbs.
The woman was among a group of lugers riding down Mount Coot-tha early on Saturday morning, when she failed to negotiate a turn and collided with a steel barrier, police said.
Senior Sergeant Ian Park said it appeared the woman had been travelling at a considerable speed.
"That's subject to investigation at this stage, but it would appear that most likely going too fast has contributed significantly to what's happened today, as indicated the injuries were fatal unfortunately," he told the ABC.
"It's certainly a reminder for everybody that extreme sports, all extreme activities, are dangerous and for people to take extreme care with doing those things and the public place is not the best place for that."
