Woman carrying feotus at least 50 years old

A 75-year-old woman admitted to hospital in Vietnam a week ago with abdominal pain was found to be carrying a calcified fetus that was at least 50 years old, doctors said yesterday.

Nguyen Ngoc Tai, director of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital in Hanoi, said the fetus appeared to be the result of an ectopic pregnancy.

It was outside Dinh Thi Thu's womb and had not interfered with her ability to bear three children.
