An Indonesian woman has become the focus of international investigators hunting those responsible for the Bali bombing atrocity.
Witnesses have reported seeing a woman flee the minivan believed to have held the bomb and leave the area in another vehicle, just seconds before the explosion rocked the late-night tourist spot last weekend.
Local police have now said they believe a remote control was used to detonate the bomb.
The revelations came as Australians and New Zealanders held memorial services to honour those lost in the bombing.
The official toll of confirmed dead stands at 187 after the weekend death of a Balinese woman who was airlifted to Australia for care.
New Zealand officials still fear three Kiwis were killed in the attack, but say they cannot rule out more bodies being found in the rubble.
It was possible that transient people were in Bali at the time of the blast and their families did not know they had been there, a Foreign Affairs spokeswoman said yesterday.
Eleven New Zealanders remain injured in foreign hospitals. Information is still being sought on 31 others believed to have been in Bali who have not contacted friends or relatives.
A total of 1320 New Zealanders have now been confirmed as alive and uninjured.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is advising against all travel to Indonesia.
