'Whites only' scholarship offered by US student group

A student group at a US university is offering a scholarship for white students only as a protest against affirmative action.

The application for a US$50 ($72) scholarship at Roger Williams University, Rhode Island, requires an essay on "why you are proud of your white heritage" and a recent picture to "confirm whiteness".

"Evidence of bleaching will disqualify applicants," say application details issued by the university's College Republicans.
