A K9 officer in South Florida is expected to recover after being shot in a gunfight where the suspect was killed.
Police dog Kasper took a bullet that was intended for his handler during a shootout in Palm Beach, Florida, Friday. Kasper went through surgery Friday night.
Officers chased Philip Oshea, 46, starting around 4am Friday after he robbed a bar and carjacked a woman, according to the Palm Beach Post.
When police arrived at the bar, Oshea drove away in his car and police followed, leading to two gunfights.
The first shootout happened during the chase, the second after Oshea crashed his car into a fence, the Daily Mail reported.
