Whale rescued from net

A humpback whale caught in a shark control net off an Australian beach has been freed.

Beach co-ordinator Matt Davidson said it took officers just under three hours to free the badly entangled animal from a net off Miami Beach on the Gold Coast yesterday.

"The whale was a sub-adult humpback approximately 8m in length," Davidson said.
