Rescuers have freed a humpback whale which became caught in shark nets off Queensland's Gold Coast.
The juvenile whale became entangled in nets off Currumbin today.
A spokeswoman for Gold Coast theme park Sea World said rescuers managed to free the whale and it continued its migration south.
A baby humpback whale died earlier this month after getting caught in a shark net off the Gold Coast.
The Queensland government has resisted calls from environmentalists to take down the shark nets off Gold Coast beaches and replace them with drum lines, to try to protect migrating whales.
There have been no shark attacks on netted beaches since the nets were introduced in the early 1960s.
