A drone has successfully been used to help rescue a man stranded in a raging river in China.
The man, clad only in shorts and a lifejacket, was trapped on a concrete structure - surrounded by torrents of water - in Guangyuan City in the Sichuan province on July 18.
Rescuers on the riverbank used a drone to drop a flotation ring to the man.
Video of the rescue shows two rescuers in an inflatable boat bravely making their way to the man, who was unharmed in the incident.
Drones are increasingly being used in emergency situations worldwide to speed up a reduce or to complete tasks too dangerous for humans to attempt.
