A 96-year-old World War 2 veteran has been pushed from his wheelchair and robbed in Melbourne just days before Anzac Day.
The veteran had left the Werribee Tavern in Werribee Plaza in western Melbourne at about 7.30pm local time and was heading home along Glendale Court in his motorised wheelchair.
"As he turned into the driveway a man and woman grabbed him and dragged him from his wheelchair onto the ground," a police spokeswoman said in a statement today.
"They then searched his pockets and took his money and a backpack."
The pair took a small amount of cash and left the man lying on the ground. He was not discovered for another 30 minutes.
The war veteran suffered injuries to his arms and elbows.
The male offender is described as caucasian, aged in his mid-20s and of a medium build with short brown hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a grey hat, white hoodie and white shoes.
The woman was described as slim, with olive skin and long, light brown hair tied in a ponytail. She was wearing black leggings, a white T-shirt and thongs.
