The pro-Kremlin party has dominated an election for Moscow city council as well as other local elections across Russia.
With 99 per cent of the Moscow vote counted, United Russia won 66 per cent and the Communist Party 13 per cent.
They were the only two parties to pass the 7 per cent threshold to win seats on the city council.
United Russia is a power base for Vladimir Putin, now the Prime Minister and party head, who has not ruled out a return to the presidency in 2012.
