An American professor has provoked controversy by posing for a project in which he photographed himself in varying states of undress, caressing the naked bodies of "former and current students."
Danny Guthrie, a photography professor at Michigan State, told the university newspaper the purpose of the project was "to explore the boundaries of human sexuality".
"The photographs are about my loss of youth and impending doom," said Guthrie. "Once you give up when you get older, you don't live in a sexual arena anymore."
While some Michigan State students have defended Guthrie's project, others have labelled the photographs "pornographic".
Mitch Goldsmith, a columnist for the State News said the relationship depicted between Guthrie and his students in the pictures was "abusive and unacceptable".
