American doctors have admitted they secretly treated Ukraine's new pro-Western president Viktor Yushchenko for poisoning during his election campaign last year.
The US has officially denied helping Yushchenko, whose wife Kateryna is American. But according to Washington Post evidence, Gregory Saathoff, the lead doctor and Head of the University of Virginia's Critical Incident Analysis Group, confirmed a team of six US doctors analysed Yushchenko's case, from a distance and in person.
He said the doctors responded to a request from Yushchenko's family through a Pentagon official.
