US helicopter shot down

Insurgents shot down a US helicopter south of Baghdad yesterday killing two soldiers, the US military said.

Meanwhile, four British soldiers were wounded in a mortar attack on a British base in Amara. One suffered serious wounds while three others were treated for minor injuries.
