BAGHDAD - The US military says a former member of Saddam Hussein's inner circle on Washington's list of most-wanted Iraqis has surrendered to US-led forces in Iraq.
Kamal Mustafa Abdallah Sultan al-Tikriti, described as secretary of Saddam's feared Republican Guard, was number 10 on a revised list of wanted Iraqis.
US Central Command (Centcom) said in a statement today he was now in the custody of US-led forces in Iraq.
"He surrendered to coalition forces early this morning in Baghdad," the Centcom statement said.
Centcom issued a list of most-wanted Iraqis after ousting Saddam on April 9, three weeks after US-led forces invaded Iraq. Saturday's surrender brings to 23 the number of the 55 wanted fugitives now in US custody.
