WASHINGTON (AP) " The Labor Department has expanded its list of products it says were produced by child or forced labor to include 136 goods from 74 countries.
The latest additions to the list produced by child labor include garments from Bangladesh; cotton and sugarcane from India; vanilla from Madagascar; fish from Kenya and Yemen; alcoholic beverages, meat, textiles, and timber from Cambodia; and palm oil from Malaysia. Electronics from Malaysia were added to the list for being produced by forced labor.
Labor Secretary Thomas Perez says there's a story behind each of the items, "a child facing back-breaking labor without education or other opportunities for a better life or an adult trapped in a dismal job through deceit or threats."
