KEY POINTS:
SYDNEY - A guard dog has been rescued by fire and ambulance crews after being trapped upside down between walls at a factory site in Sydney's west.
The German shepherd was on patrol at the Fairfield East site early today when it ventured between the walls of two adjacent factories.
The dog became trapped and flipped over on its back while trying to free itself, a NSW Ambulance spokesman said.
Fire and ambulance crews were called in after a security guard raised the alarm about 3am (AEDT).
Firefighters used a jackhammer to make a hole in a wall big enough to free the animal.
The dog was finally rescued, unharmed, about 4.30am.
