The United Nations may temporarily have to move across the East River to gritty Brooklyn while it renovates its Manhattan headquarters, says Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
After looking at more than 100 properties, the world body found that only a site in downtown Brooklyn would be able to accommodate UN staff and conferences, Annan said in a report to the General Assembly.
