UN expert kicked out

United Nations human rights expert Manfred Nowak, who was detained by security officials on arrival in Zimbabwe on Wednesday, has been deported from the country, a UN official said yesterday.

Nowak said he had been invited by Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai to the country where a power-sharing deal between Tsvangirai and President Robert Mugabe is under severe strain.
