A lack of sunshine and fewer holidays are among the factors which have made the UK come last in a survey ranking quality of life in European countries.
British-based comparison agency uSwitch looked at 16 lifestyle factors throughout 10 European countries before ranking Blighty last on the list for a second successive year.
The UK was found to have the second-lowest hours of sunshine each year, the fourth-highest retirement age and 5.5 days fewer annual holidays than the European average.
France claimed number one place in the survey, despite working longer hours than Brits.
Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and Germany rounded out the top five European countries offering the best quality of life according to Uswitch, while Denmark, Poland, Sweden and Ireland all placed above the UK.
