LONDON (AP) A British judge has released audio recorded during the alleged execution of an Afghan insurgent by three U.K. soldiers.
The recording comes from video that was captured on a helmet-mounted camera. The marines are being tried at a court martial accused of the man's murder.
Following a media request, Judge Advocate General Jeff Blackett allowed the release Thursday of the audio. He had previously refused to release the full video.
In the video which was shown at the marines' court martial one marine rejects another's offer to shoot the Afghan in the head as too obvious.
That marine then shoots the insurgent in the chest, turns to the others and says "I just broke the Geneva convention."
