Officials say two Air France flights bound for Paris from the US had to be diverted because of anonymous threats issued after they took off, but both planes landed safely.
Air France said in a statement that one flight, from Los Angeles International Airport to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris was diverted to Salt Lake City International Airport on Tuesday night.
At about the same time a second flight took off from Dulles International Airport outside Washington and was diverted to Halifax on Canada's East Coast.
Both planes landed without incident and the passengers were taken safely to terminals.
It was not yet clear whether either plane had been searched or anything had been found.
