SYDNEY - Two people have been refused bail after allegedly kidnapping a man who chewed his way through ropes to free himself, NSW police say.
Jodie Michelle Martin, 36, of Corowa, and Eric John Goodwin, 36, of Byawatha, in Victoria, faced Albury Local Court yesterday following their extradition to NSW.
Police allege the pair kidnapped Martin's defacto, Jason Ian Hooper, 28, of Corowa, in southern NSW, from a property near Griffith on November 18.
It's alleged Mr Hooper escaped from a farmhouse in Victoria's north-east that night after chewing his way through the rope that bound him.
Martin and Goodwin were arrested in Echuca, Victoria, on Saturday and were held in the Shepparton Remand Centre until being handed over to NSW Police on Monday.
They have been charged with one count each of take and detain in company with intent to gain an advantage.
The pair were remanded in custody to face the same court on January 24.
