Fossils discovered in southern Utah are from a new species of birdlike dinosaur that resembled a 2.1m-tall turkey and could run up to 40 km/h.
Fossils of the meat-eater's hand-like claw and foot were found in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.
It has been named Hagryphus giganteus, or giant four-footed, birdlike god of the Western desert.
Three other dinosaurs at the monument are expected to be named soon, including a tyrannosaur, a horned dinosaur and a duckbilled dinosaur with a 2.1m-long head.
