A powerful earthquake in the Banda Sea off Indonesia early this morning was too deep to cause a tsunami.
The quake measured 7.3 on the Richter Scale and sparked a tsunami warning which was later cancelled. There have been no reports of damage so far.
Seismologists say the quake was at a depth of 138 kilometres and tsunamis generally only occur after much shallower tremors.
