Trump attorney Michael Cohen tweets photo of his college-aged daughter in lingerie

Michael Cohen, President Trump's high profile personal attorney, posted a black-and-white photograph of his daughter Samantha Blake Cohen wearing only black stockings and a lacy bra to his 218,000 Twitter followers Sunday evening.

"So proud of my Ivy League daughter ... brains and beauty channeling her Edie Sedgwick," the caption read. The tweet also included a link to his daughter's Instagram account.

The photograph appears to be a recreation of an old picture of Sedgwick, a model who ran in Andy Warhol's inner circle, which was often described as "Warhol's superstars."

Reactions on Twitter were swift and critical of Cohen, who has aggressively defended Trump against numerous allegations from women of sexual assault or harassment.

In less than four hours, more than 1200 people had responded to the tweet, and Cohen replied to two of them.

One user suggested that Cohen had posted pornographic material.

"Jealous?" Cohen replied.

Several users replied to Cohen's reply, calling it creepy. One user called Cohen "Mr Creepypants."

Another wrote, "This type of reply might be more creepy than you posting the pic, bro."

"Most fathers don't post lingerie shots of their daughters," wrote another user.

"Beauty and brains you a-hole! It's a modelling shot remake from an old Edie Sedgwick photo. #hater," Cohen replied.

Many users also mentioned Trump, who has been criticised on multiple occasions for making comments about the attractiveness of his former-model daughter Ivanka.

One user, Shannon Coulter, posted the original photo of Sedgwick, which showed the model sitting on a man as if he were a chair while she smoked a cigarette.

Coulter continued, pointing out the differences between this photo and the one Cohen posted.

"Gaze is not demure and downward. It is direct. She is not sitting on draped furniture. She is sitting on a man as if he was furniture," Coulter wrote. "Sedgwick represented the epitome of the modern female sexuality the Trump administration is doing everything in its power to suppress. She was an original who would have detested Donald Trump & anyone who helped or represented him. Keep her name out of your mouth."

Before being named the personal attorney to Trump while he serves as president, Cohen worked for Trump's real estate company for the past decade, as The Washington Post reported.

"I'm not a government official. I'm not taking a government salary," Cohen said in January of his new position. "I'm just going to continue technically in the role that I play for Mr. Trump as president of the Trump Organisation."

Last year, as the presidential election neared, Cohen was among those defending Trump against allegations that he had sexually assaulted several women. Trump suggested that the women shouldn't be believed because they weren't attractive enough for him to assault, as The Washington Post reported.

"I think what Mr Trump is really trying to say is that they're not somebody that he would be attracted to and therefore the whole thing is nonsense," Cohen said at the time.
