A tropical cyclone is expected to hit Fiji tomorrow afternoon, causing heavy swells and flooding.
Radio New Zealand reported a gale warning was in place for the islands of Wallis and Futuna, north-east of Fiji, as well as southern Tuvalu.
Cyclone Tomas is currently a category two system but is expected to increase to category three or four by Sunday or Monday.
It is forecast to be stronger than most of the storms that reach Fiji and emergency services are on standby.
