The man facing prosecution over the killing of an unarmed American teenager has been released from jail with new restrictions the day after a Florida judge set his bail at US$1million, according to a report.
Judge Kenneth R. Lester Jr said the amount was not intended to punish George Zimmerman, but it would assure the court that he would not attempt to flee, reported CNN.
Zimmerman's lawyer, Don West, told CNN his client was required to post 10 per cent of the bond in order to secure his release. He is forbidden from opening or maintaining a bank account, holding a passport, or being at an airport. He must also report to officials every two days.
The 28-year-old neighbourhood watch volunteer was charged with second-degree murder after 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was shot to death in February.
The case sparked national outrage in the US, with critics saying Martin's killing was racially-motivated. Zimmerman has claimed he acted in self-defence.
