Passengers had to help flight attendants restrain a man who was threatening crew and travellers on a Qantas flight from Perth to Melbourne yesterday.
The man, who was eventually restrained with cable ties, was sitting at the back of the plane, where he reportedly disturbed fellow passengers on the red-eye flight.
When cabin crew brought him to the front, he became loud and argumentative and flight attendants begged travellers to help them subdue him.
A Melbourne recruitment consultant identified only as Rob was among those who responded. He told Channel 7 News: "About four or five of us jumped up and we grabbed hold of him and took him to the ground and held him there. We then tried to get his hands behind his back to put the cable restraints on him. He was yelling out all sorts of weird stuff, stuff about God ... it was scary."
The plane, which landed in Melbourne at 6am, was greeted by Australian Federal Police (AFP) officers, who took the man into custody.
