A train was derailed during heavy rains near a popular seaside resort in central Thailand, killing at least eight people and injuring 54 others.
The train jumped the tracks near Hua Hin on the Gulf of Thailand during a trip from the southern city of Trang to the capital, Bangkok, said Chatree Charoencheewakun, director of the Emergency Medical Institute.
All of the victims were Thais, police said. About six of the train's 16 cars were derailed.
