Mudslides caused by heavy rains in Peru's southern Andes stranded 3200 tourists at the Machu Picchu Inca citadel when mud and rocks blocked the railway.
Machu Picchu, the ruins of an entire city, is South America's best-known archeological site.
The citadel was probably the sanctuary of the great Inca emperor Pachacutec.
