KEY POINTS:
BERLIN - A leading German weather forecaster lost her composure and called herself stupid on air when a technician mistakenly broadcast out-takes of her pre-recorded forecast.
"Man, what's going on? Am I stupid, or what?" ARD public television's Claudia Kleinert shouted and then banged her hands on her thighs after telling more than a million startled viewers that clouds would be coming from both the east and west.
The network quickly switched to an advertisement and then her report resumed as if nothing had happened.
Kleinert, 38, told Bild newspaper on Saturday that Thursday's forecast had been pre-recorded because she taking medicine for an illness and was unsure she could to complete the report without blundering.
"I was just mad at myself for getting it wrong three times in a row," Kleinert said. "The clouds were only from the east."
A subsequent taping went off without a hitch but a technician accidentally aired the blunder-filled tape instead. He fixed his mistake and put in the right tape halfway through the broadcast.
