A police chief in China has been fired after a prisoner died during an interrogation.
Zhang Guanjun, a police chief in Lushan county in Henan province, was forced to resign for neglecting his duties after Wang Yanhui, a 28-year-old villager held on theft charges, died under interrogation, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.
Last year, China began a campaign to clamp down on inmate abuse and nearly 1800 policemen were suspended from their positions for "violating duties".
Top cop quits over death
