Seven people have become the first to be convicted over last year's deadly riots in Tonga.
Six men were found guilty on Wednesday of 17 charges related to the riots, which devastated parts of the capital Nuku'alofa and left eight people dead, the Matangi Tonga website reported. A seventh was found guilty of attending a riotous meeting. The seven will be sentenced on February 8.
