Tonga joins world organisation against chemical weapons

Tonga would join the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons this month, the Hague-based group said yesterday.

The United Nations encourages all its members to ratify the organisation's 1993 convention, which aims to eliminate chemical weapons by 2007.
