Toll-dodger's sentence revoked

A Chinese farmer and gravel dealer sentenced to life in prison for evading more than $722,000 in highway cargo tolls by using fake military licence plates has now avoided the harsh punishment too.

After a public outcry about what was seen as harsh treatment of Shi Jianfeng and grumpiness over high tolls in general, state media said authorities had overturned Shi's life sentence.
