A prison parolee has been sentenced to three life terms without parole for fatally stabbing and slashing a Vietnamese immigrant couple and their 6-year-old son over a US$80,000 ($108,000) debt.
Orange County prosecutors said Quang Van Quan left the family's 11-month-old daughter unharmed and she sat by her mother's dead body for two days. The 39-year-old Quan was convicted in October of three counts of murder in the 2006 deaths of 30-year-old Phuong Le, Le's wife, 25-year-old Ngoc Lam, and her 6-year-old son Tommy Lam.
