KEY POINTS:
Two adults and a child have died in a bushfire in Western Australia's eastern goldfields.
The bodies were recovered from two burnt-out trucks in Boorabbin National Park between Southern Cross and Coolgardie about midnight last night, a police spokesman said.
Fire crews and police discovered the bodies in two of seven trucks burnt out and abandoned about 75 kilometres east of Southern Cross.
"One truck contained an adult body and the other truck contained an adult and what appeared to be the body of the child," the spokesman said.
Further examination of the scene was not possible due to the intense heat, but police would return to the scene early today to investigate, he said.
The road would also remain closed until further notice.
The bushfire has been burning since Friday, scorching more than 7500 hectares and downing powerlines.
The deaths came after one of the region's major highways was closed after the bushfire jumped containment lines near the park yesterday.
With strong winds and 43C heat, firefighters were under pressure to contain the blaze.
Department of Environment and Conservation incident controller Barry Hooper said the fire has jumped containment lines and crossed to the southern side of Great Eastern Highway between Yellowdine and Coolgardie.
"It was fanned by northerly winds which put pressure on the southern flank of the fire," he said.
"Motorists will be escorted through the fire area in convoy if it is safe to do so," he said yesterday.
It was hoped a southerly change may help containment efforts.
