* Donor countries are rushing doctors, helicopters, food, tents and sniffer dogs to Pakistan.
* The United Nations refugee agency UNHCR said aid trucks were being sent from Peshawar to the North West Frontier Province.
* The International Red Cross said it aimed to provide food and shelter to 120,000 people stranded in freezing autumn conditions.
* Nato prepared to offer troops, aircraft and humanitarian aid to Pakistan. Some 50 German troops have already been sent from Nato's peacekeeping force in Afghanistan.
Changes to aid offerings
* The UNITED STATES aid pledge has been lifted from US$100,000 to an initial US$50 million. Several transport aircraft have already sent relief supplies, heavy equipment and a humanitarian co-ordination team. A disaster assistance response team is also being sent to help.
* JAPAN's pledge is now US$20 million in grant aid. The country is also considering sending helicopters and troops. This is in addition to rescue teams and equipment worth US$317,000 already pledged.
New donations
* KUWAIT donated US$100 million.
* UNITED ARAB EMIRATES pledged US$100 million.
* YEMEN said it would send two aid planes.
* SOUTH KOREA is to provide US$3 million and rescue workers.
* MALAYSIA is sending a search and rescue team including 18 medical officers. Malaysia also pledged US$1 million in aid.
* BRITAIN said it had pledged £1 million, which would be increased.
* SRI LANKA pledged US$100,000.
* THAILAND donated US$100,000 and offered 50 doctors and nurses.
* THE PHILIPPINES National Red Cross has offered to send a team of doctors and engineers.
* SOUTH AFRICA is sending 18 doctors, 10 paramedics, and 30 tonnes of aid.
