KEY POINTS:
DARWIN - One of Australia's best-known trains, The Ghan, has derailed in the Northern Territory.
The passenger train, which travels between Adelaide and Darwin, derailed about 4.30pm NZT near the Adelaide River.
The driver of the 11-carriage train suffered minor injuries. It is not known how many passengers were on board but a police spokeswoman said "they have only bumps and bruises".
Three teams of paramedics were on site.
